In Calicut district of Kerala  a new case of Nipah virus was confirmed by Veena  George ,  Kerala’s Health Minister .There are five affected people . The Minister said affected case includes a 24- year- old health worker of a private hospital . In the contact list of Health worker  there were 706 people. It includes 77 high risk people and 153 health workers . Under the hospital observation 13 people with mild headache symptoms have been affected. In the ICU , 3 people were admitted but now only a 9-year-old who was tested positive is in the ICU . According According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), Nipah virus infection is a zoonotic illness that is transmitted to people from animals and can also be transmitted through contaminated food or directly from person-to-person. Acute respiratory illness and fatal encephalitis is possible from  Asymptomatic infection due to this disease among infected people . Farmers will suffer from economic losses due to animals such as pigs as even it  will be affected because of this disease. Two deaths were reported suspected due to Nipah virus infection, so Kerala government has issued a district-wide health alert. People are advised to use masks and control rooms has been created in Calicut. 16 core committees have been formed by the health department  to deal with all cases related to this virus.
