Notably, Jadeja did not play for India in the 2nd Test as he missed out with an injury but the other three, Ajaz Patel, Rachin Ravindra and Axar Patel were part of the proceedings in Mumbai. On the other hand, Rachin Ravindra, who fought hard and helped New Zealand seal a draw on his Test debut, picked up 3 wickets in the 2nd innings, denying Ajaz more wickets in Mumbai.

India wrapped up the 2nd Test by 372 runs, sealing a 1-0 series victory, extending their winning run in home series to 14. R Ashwin won the Player of the Series award for picking up 14 wickets and making crucial contributions with the bat in Kanpur and Mumbai.

It was a memorable outing for Ashwin as well as the India off-spinner became the fastest Indian to pick up 300 Test wickets at home. He completed the feat by picking up the decisive wicket on Monday morning at the Wankhede Stadium.
