A man who went to get vaccinated in Chhapra of Bihar was injected with an empty syringe by a nurse working in haste. A video that has gone viral shows the nurse talking to others and swiftly pushing in the needle without any vaccine dose in it.

The incident took place in Chhapra city’s ward number 1 near the Bada Imambara area on June 21. The video has started doing the rounds on social media, inviting action against the errant nurse.

Speaking to Aaj Tak, Saran’s District Immunization Officer (DIO) Dr Ajay Kumar said that a show-cause notice has been issued to nurse Chanda Kumari (48) and has been asked to give an explanation within 48 hours.

The errant nurse has also been removed from duty. However, the DIO added that the nurse did not deliberately make the mistake. Overcrowding at the vaccination centre led her to act in haste, when she ended up pushing an empty syringe.

Meanwhile, authorities have said the man who fell victim to the empty syringe incident might get the vaccine dose on any day he chooses.
