Rashmika Mandanna, who is fondly called the National Crush, is waiting for the shooting of Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2. Meanwhile, reports started doing the rounds that Rashmika has been roped in to play the female lead in director Pa Ranjith’s upcoming film starring Chiyaan Vikram. However, it has now been reported that Rashmika had opted out of the project due to date issues. Malavika Mohanan has been chosen to play Vikram’s romantic interest in the film.

Malavika Mohanan was last seen in Dhanush’s Maaran, which was released on Disney+ Hotstar. The film received negative reviews from critics and audiences alike.

Now, it looks like Malavika Mohanan has landed a biggie. If reports are anything to be believed, Malavika has been chosen to play the female lead in Chiyaan Vikram’s film with Pa Ranjith. Earlier, Rashmika was chosen to play the role. But, she backed out the film due to her packed schedule.

Titled Chiyaan 61, director Pa Ranjith is planning to make the film in 3D.

Recently, Chiyaan Vikram commenced the test shoot, which took place in Chennai. According to reports, Chiyaan 61 will be shot in 2D and 3D and will have a pan-India release. Set in Kolar Gold Fields during the pre-independence era, Chiyaan 61 is tipped to be a hard-hitting commercial entertainer. The film has music scored by GV Prakash Kumar.
