Messaging app Telegram has rolled out a set of interesting features on the last day of 2021. Telegram has not got an iMessage-like reactions feature along with an interesting feature to hide some parts of a text. The feature has been named Spoiler. Another important feature that the messaging app has got is called the message translation feature, which is clearly a first in a messaging app. No other messaging apps including WhatsApp, Signal have the message translation feature.

Message Reactions

Telegram users will now be able to react to messages using emojis. The feature is already available on iMessage, Facebook Messenger and Instagram but now Telegram will get it too. “Telegram was the first messaging app to add animated and interactive emoji, giving users unparalleled ways to express themselves in chats. Today some of these emoji become available as reactions to share feelings and feedback without sending any messages,” the company said in a blog post.

To react to a message using emoji, simply double a message to send a Thumbs Up reaction. To send other emojis tap once on the message and choose from the list of emojis you want to send. The reactions can on.y be used in private chats, in groups and channels, the admins decide whether to turn on reactions and choose which reaction emoji are available in the chat.

Spoiler

Using the Spoiler feature, users can select any part of their text when typing and choose the new ‘Spoiler’ formatting. When you select the Spoiler option, hide the selected part of the message in the chat, as well as in the chat list and notifications.

Message Translation

Message Translation is by far one of the most important features that have been rolled out on a messaging app. Telegram is, fortunately, the first app to get it. Now users can translate any message into another language, right in the app. You can enable translation in Settings>Languages. Then a new Translate button is added to the context menu when selecting a message. Users can also exclude any languages they speak fluently which will hide the translate button for those messages. Translation is available on all Android devices that support Telegram but requires iOS 15+ on Apple devices. The list of available languages depends on your phone’s operating system
