On  Sunday , Gulmaarg the popular skiing destination of Kashmir turned into a winter fairyland.  Kashmir was in deep snow as shown by a drone footage .  For the past four days temperature is several degrees below the freezing point . The trees were covered with snow appearing white in colour. Entire city is filled with snowfall. To enjoy the skiing in Gulmaarg  tourists from Japan, Australia and New Zealand are thronging Kashmir. A tourist from Sydney said  “I’ve seen plenty of snow slopes in my life and Gulmarg tops them all. I’ve been to Japan, New Zealand, and Canada. I’ve done off-track snowboarding in Russia. And nothing compares to Gulmarg. Nothing.” At Srinagar airport all flights are cancelled due to snowfall and in Kashmir normal life has been disrupted. For four hours traffic on the strategic 270 km – Jammu Srinagar National Highway was stranded because of landslide in Jammu’s Ramban district. Six of Indigo’s flight were cancelled said the airlines staff. Snowfall was moderate in plains but valley’s higher reaches witnessed heavy snowfall. For the next 24 hours residents are advised to avoid unnecessary movement.
