Madhya Pradesh Schools will be operating at 50% capacity from today. The government has taken this decision as the state prepares itself to tackle the fear of new COVID-19 variant. Details on new guidelines here.

  • The decision has been taken as fears of new COVID variant, Omicron spread in the country, even though no cases have been reported.
  • Online classes would continue for all and half yearly examinations would be held as scheduled.

Madhya Pradesh Schools will be operating at 50% capacity from today – November 29, 2021, as per a recent announcement by the state government. The decision has been taken as the state begins its battle with the fear of a new COVID-19 variant.  

Madhya Pradesh Schools have also been asked to get back to the ‘new normal’ and continue with online classes alongside. The state government directed these schools to adopt this as it believed that studies and learning of students must continue regardless of them coming regularly for offline classes.  

As per reports, a COVID-19 review meeting was held in the state with Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on November 28, 2021. In that, several things were discussed considering how the new COVID-19 variant, Omicron can lead to a rise in infections. Following this, the decision for schools operating with 50% capacity and not 100%, was also taken.

As a part of the guidelines issued for adjusting to this new change, the School Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar said that COVID-19 safety protocols have to be followed by everyone even when schools operate at a reduced capacity.  

Along with this, Madhya Pradesh Schools have been informed that the half-yearly examinations would continue as scheduled. There would be no change in them and detailed orders for the conduct of the same have been issued and sent to schools.

Madhya Pradesh Schools reopened for offline classes and started functioning at 100% capacity for classes 8, 10 and 12. Even though schools opened for most of the classes, including 1 to 5, they were operating at full capacity only for the ones mentioned. With this new change, schools, students and stakeholders are advised to make a note and act accordingly.
