Mumbai Schools will not be reopening from tomorrow – December 1, 2021. BMC has deferred this reopening for classes 1 to 7 to December 15, 2021 as the fear of new COVID variant, Omicron is increasing in the city. Details here.

Mumbai Schools reopening has been delayed. As per recent orders from BMC, Mumbai Schools will not be reopening from tomorrow – December 1, 2021 for classes 1 to 7. They would reopen from December 15, 2021, once the situation is conducive. The decision has been taken as the threat and fear of new COVID variant, Omicron is now spreading among people. Taking into account the safety of everyone and the need to adopt utmost care, the reopening date has been deferred for junior classes in Mumbai Schools.

Mumbai School Reopen news was expected to come from BMC today as Maharashtra Government has already given a nod to reopen schools for physical classes from December 1, 2021. On November 29, 2021, the guidelines and SOPs for the same were also released and the State School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad asked everyone to follow them.

Even though schools in Maharashtra have been allowed to resume physical classes, a fear of the new COVID variant, Omicron is there. With no cases being reported in the country so far, all states are adopting precautionary measures to ensure minimal transmission of infection.

Mumbai Schools were allowed to reopen for senior classes initially. As the state government as allowed the resumption of offline lectures for classes 1 to 7 in urban areas and classes 1 to 4 in rural areas, BMC was also expected to announce a final decision for the city schools today.  

Schools in Mumbai would continue to follow COVID-19 safety protocols. With the reopening being deferred, everyone is advised to stay in touch with their schools and continue with online classes or any other way, as mandated by the schools. Everyone is also advised to take all necessary precautions and stay safe.
