The West Bengal Crime Investigation Department (CID) sleuths seized a truck with 233 kgs of cannabis or colloquially termed narcotic drug, Ganja, on Wednesday late night. The CID officials intercepted one Tata Goods vehicle near Dhulagarh Toll Plaza in Howrah district. Three people have been arrested in connection with the seizure. The approximate value of the seized contraband is Rs 23 lakhs.

As per CID sources, on Wednesday, on the basis of credible information, the Narcotics cell, CID, intercepted one Tata Goods vehicle near Dhulagarh Toll Plaza in Howrah district.

CID apprehended two persons from whose possession around 233 kg of Cannabis was seized. The contraband was being illegally transported from Balibiri, in Odisha and was scheduled to be delivered to Korimpur, Rajapur and Hogolberia areas in Nadia District.

A case has been registered in this regard at Sankrail police station under sections 20, 25 and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. An investigation is underway to identify the other persons involved. The arrested accused persons will be produced in ADJ 3rd Court, Howrah today.
