In Thane of Mumbai approximately 17 people died in an untoward incident. For the construction of phase 3 of the Samruddhi Express Highway girder launcher machine was used . It collapsed in the early hours of Tuesday and three were injured. The accident took place near Sarlambe village in Thane where a construction of bridge is underway . There is a big doubt about people being trapped under the debris . In a major accident, the crane and the slab connecting the girder machine fell from a height of 100 feet. Along with those injured , the dead bodies were taken to a local hospital. Ravindra Chauhan , the Maharashtra Minister said , “17 people died, in which there were six engineers and three people have been hospitalised. Soon an enquiry will be initiated and will try to find out why this accident happened.” For rescue and relief work,NDRF personnel, fire official and police personnel are involved. For high speed rail bridge construction projects and for installing precist box girders in highway this machine is used . It’s a 701 km long expressway connecting Mumbai and Nagpur.
