Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi  and Tenkasi  had on Monday morning a red alert as on late Sunday it was a heavy downpour. Over the Comorin area a cyclonic circulation is in rotation currently in Vijayawada. Due to severe waterlogging many educational institutions are shut down today. Several trains were cancelled since flood water entered train yards and rail tracks were submerged . In tuticorin 606 mm of rainfall is recorded till 1:30 am on Monday . Tamil Nadu government sent ministers to the four affected districts to carry out the flood relief work. As per News Agency PTI, four senior IAS officers have been appointed by State Government to carry out the relief work. In Kanyakumari and Thirunelveli , three teams of State Disaster management have been deployed. Advisories have been issued for people living near reservoirs and those in low lying areas . Private companies can work only with essential staff and not in full strength.
