On  Sunday due to bad weather Air India flight of Delhi – London route  had to make an emergency landing in Jaipur. At the Jaipur airport for about three hours , about 350 passengers were stranded  and they had to seek  alternative ways to reach Delhi.  It was because of pilot’s refusal .  At 4 am the flight A1-112 was scheduled to arrive in Delhi  but diverted to Jaipur due to worse weather  conditions.  Before diverting to Jaipur it circled for 10 minutes in the sky. The reason for his refusal is flight duty time limitations and duty hours . Even some other flights were also diverted to Jaipur . So after 2 hours  the Delhi Air Traffic Control (ATC) gave clearance to resume it’s journey to Delhi along with other flights. The pilot declined to continue he flight.  The 350 passengers who were stranded at the airport had to look for alternative arrangements. Some of the passengers were transported by road to Delhi , while others took the same flight with a replacement crew. Air India cited poor visibility and inclement weather as the reason. “While the aircraft was waiting for Delhi weather to improve and take off, the cockpit crew came under FDTL, that is Flight Duty Time Limitations. Pilots cannot operate a flight once they come under the FDTL, as laid down by regulatory authorities. Air India accords top priority to safety of its passengers and crew and strictly adhering to the operations regulations, immediately arranged a fresh set of crew to operate the flight,” said the airline.
